I am a coffee-loving mom to three, crazy little people, a wife to a pretty fantastic sidekick, Jason, and a teacher to people like you. I spent the first ten years of my career as a first-grade teacher and K-12 literacy coach. I was fortunate to be a part of an amazing district.  Honestly, I could have stayed there forever, but then life happened. My husband’s job required him to travel all over the world, and I was trying to juggle work, a pregnancy, a ten-month-old and a toddler. We knew something had to give.

One night over a financial spreadsheet and an ice cream sundae, my husband and I made the bittersweet decision for me to leave my job. I couldn’t have been happier to be home with my babies, but the tears shed while cleaning out my office told me I needed to stay close to the work I loved. The deep desire to keep teaching inspired me to start back slowly as an independent literacy consultant, and now it has led me to you.

I hope that my experience as a first-grade teacher, literacy coach and mommy will help you along your journey both in and out of the classroom. When I am not consulting or writing to you, you can find me breaking up a wrestling match, dancing to Disney songs in the kitchen, or folding laundry with a child on my head.
